SOSSIO (Past, Present & Future)

Biography

Mission & History

Sossio attended the Art Academy in Naples from 1968 to 1972, years of great ferment and transformation for the new Neapolitan School. He was a pupil of such painters as Domenico Spinosa, Armando De Stefano, Gianni Pisani. Between 1976 and 1978 he had many solo exhibitions, all in Neapolitan galleries, because he felt great attachment to the city’s cultural and artistic climate.

In the 1980s he moved to Tuscany, where his true inner research began. His canvases from this period are typified by the use of linguistic modules linked to colour, and by the absence of figurative forms. His experiences from these years will prove crucial to his stylistic path, in particular for the inspiration he received from illuminating readings, especially Keys of the Creative Universe, born from the encounter with Elio D’Anna, writer, philosopher, entrepreneur, poet and musician.
